One might ask is advertising simply mirroring societies view on t he roles of females, or are they part of the reason why America still labels women as domesticated? Printed publicizings portray women inferior to men by the use of their context, imagery, and content. Companies use the conventional view of women in marketing strategies in order to sell their products.Figure 1 The Mini Automatic. Developing Profit with Online Sales Promotions
Developing Profit with Online Sales PromotionsPromotional Mix is consists of 4ps (Sales promotion, advertisement, personal selling, and publicity/public relations) and has a very significant role to play in Business success .Basically, Sales promotion is concerned with ensuring that customer are aware of the different products manufactured by companies and makes available to their customers (Rowley J. 1998).Promotion alters consumer behaviour beyond the public price/quantity trade-off, change in buying time of the product, as well as how much the customer buys (Blattberg et al., 1995). selling Communication is one of the very important Marketing activities and is generally preferred to the term PROMOTION. All of the Marketing communication activities are the form of promotion that is in one way or another chasten to promote product range brand and/or company (Rowley J. 1998).The net income is a best tool to result an efficient way for, Marketing communication. It has been obse rved that the adoption of the Internet is faster than any other media. Other Medias like Radio (took 38 years) and TV (took 13 years) to reach 50 million users, whereas Internet took only five years to touch this level (Ellsworth and Ellsworth, 1997). Companies are also conducting promotional programs using social networking websites such(prenominal) as Facebook, Orkut, Hi5, and Twitter. numerous research workers realized that Internet would improve the Marketing communication process and it ordain increase future sales. Internet websites act like an information provider, and organizations encourage customers to call off their websites. Tools such as print advertising, text messaging and broadcast are being used to bring about such visits (Harridge and March, 2004).The development of different tools of promotion, such as sales promotion, advertising and direct marketing have been improved by the development of the technology, which has offered the potential to communicate with c ustomers ( Harridge and March, 2004).This has been done in order to increase the effectiveness of the tools, but to achieve this a unified integration is needed ( Cornelisessen and Lock, 2001).The synergy generated by such a integration far outweighs the use of undivided tools in isolation, although it has been suggested that the Internet has increased effectiveness and efficiency in communicating with customers ( Harridge and March, 2004).Promotions should not be considered as a simply price promotions, rather it should be considered in a broader content and will include advertising budgets, display allowance to the trade, as well as feature and display advertising drill direct to the customer (Blattberg et al., 1995). In order to meet the promotional objectives of any given promotion strategy an appropriate promotional mix must be created. The promotional mix is the mixture of two or more different promotional channels that is used to communicate a promotional message with cust omers (Rowley J, 1998).1.2 difficulty DiscussionIn year 2001, over a one third adults of the UK who accessed the Internet also purchased salutarys or services through it. This means remaining two-third do not shop online. Some companies have been criticized for apparently thinking that all the Internet shoppers are the same, instead of realizing that there are galore(postnominal) reasons why a customer may visit a web site (ibid). On the other hand, due to very high competition in Market there is a massive pressure on marketers to increase their spending on the promotional mix. While at the same time top management has examined carefully that promotional expenditures are among one of the most promising areas left for cutting costs and increasing profits. This need puts extreme pressure on Marketers to develop and follow through promotional programs within the constraints of tighter budgets and can contribute to their organizations. Hence, it is important to reexamine how promo tional money is spent (Srinivasan and Anderson, 2008).In todays Businesses sales promotions are very important Marketing tools but they command a greater portion of the Marketing budget than advertisements. For example, in the USA investments amount on sales promotion is nearly 30 percent of what company spend on advertising alone (d Astous and Jacob, 2005) and in many European countries, expenditures on sales promotion are larger than advertising expenditures (ibid). However, advertisements are very popular and a big business on the Internet, sales promotions on the Internet are still limited. The reason behind this is that Internet is not so common in underdeveloped and developing nations and reaching customers using this technology is difficult because not everyone is accessing Internet (Kumar et al., 2005).Since there are many other problems on which research is needed and I will try to cover them in address.1.3 seek purpose and research questions. The Purpose of my Dissertation is to provide understanding on the use of online sales promotions in todays competitive market. How it can be improved and make it more profitable? In order to achieve this purpose I have constructed the following research questions.Que1-How can the types of sales promotions for consumer goods be exposit?Que2-How can online environment (i.e. Internet) providing types of sales promotion be described?MethodologyPurpose of Research match to Yin (2004) the purpose of Research study can be described in three categories exploratory, descriptive, or explanatory. According to Zikmund (2000) good researchers strive for descriptive precision. Descriptive Research includesSurveys (questionnaires, Delphi method, normative, interviews)Case studiesJob AnalysisCo relational studiesDocumentary Analysis*Development studies and, I will try to conduct questionnaires and include case studies to my dissertation. Descriptive Research is useful to find out the answer of who, what, when, where, and how, a nd to find the need, difference, Characteristics, and features of subgroups (ibid).Explanatory Research is conducted when we are supposed to discern the causal relationships, among variables (Zikmund, 2000). It helps in determining the best research design, selection of subjects and entropy collection methods. It relies on secondary Research such as literature reviewing, qualitative approaches such as informal discussion with consumers, management or employees and formal approaches through focus groups, case studies, etc.The Research purpose and questions show that this Dissertation is going to be mainly descriptive and somewhere I will use explanatory Research also to explore and find out the answers to Research questions and to draw conclusions.Research ApproachIn this study qualitative approach will be used. Qualitative research is used to determine the answer to why not the How through case studies, emails, interviews, customers feedback forms, photos and videos. It is used to understand peoples attitudes, concerns, behaviours, culture or lifestyles, motivations and helps in taking Business decisions (Yin, 2004). According to Amaratunga et al., (2002) it is difficult to make accountable livery on Qualitative Research in Business economics. The purpose of my Dissertation is to enhance understanding on the use of online environment for sales promotions. On the creation of above discussion Qualitative approach is suitable and hence I will use Qualitative approach.Data collection methodAccording to Yin (2004), for entropy collection, participant observations are one of the most important sources of case study. These observations provide strength of being real, contextual, and also provide understanding of interpersonal behaviour and motives. It is a mode of observation where researcher is not a passive observer. Instead, researcher may have to play many roles within a case match to situation and may participate in the events being studied (ibid). Therefore , for this Dissertation data would be collected by participant observation.Sample SelectionAccording to Gragiano and Raulin (1997), it is not possible to collect and gain data from all the available sources to solve the research problems and to find the solutions. Techniques provided by sampling reduce the amount of data that is needed to collect from a sub-group (Saunders Thorn hill, 2000). Sample for case studies can be chosen in many ways (Yin, 2004).For my dissertation I will use judgmental or purposive sampling. According to Saunders (2000) purposive sampling enables researcher to use judgment to select cases that will best enable researcher to answer research questions and to meet objectives. It can be use when we have to work with very small samples such as in case study research.http//www.qsrinternational.com/what-is-qualitative-research.aspx

This is a direct result of SWOT analysis. This framework also helps in deciding whether the organization is a cost leader, differentiator or a focus player accordingly, a company positions itself by leveraging its strengths.Porters three generic strategies are discussed in more detail in the following section.Cost leadingThe companies that attempt to become the lowest-cost producers in an industry can be referred to as those following a cost leadership strategy. The company with the lowest costs would earn the highest profits in the event when the competing products are essentially undifferentiated, and selling at a standard market price.DifferentiationWhen a company differentiates its products, it is often able to charge a premium price for its products or services in the market. Some general examples of differentiation include better service levels to customers, better product performance etc. in comparison with the existing competitors. Porter (1980) has argued that for a company employing a differentiation strategy, there would be extra costs that the company would have to incur.FocusOrganisations can make use of the focus strategy by focusing on a specific niche in the market and offering specialised products for that niche. This is why the focus strategy is also sometimes referred to as the niche strategy (Lynch, 2003).Stuck in the middleAccording to Porter (1980), a companys failure to make a choice between cost leadership and differentiation essentially implies that the company is stuck in the middle. There is no competitive advantage for a company that is stuck in the middle and the result is often poor financial performance (Porter, 1980).Vodafone Generic Competitive Strategy isLow cost strengthUniqueness Com petencyBorder TargetNarrow Target2.1.4 STRATEGIC OPTIONSVodafone PLC also aspires to uphold a high level of growth .Vodafones strategy up to date has been the key factor in its huge success and can carry on applying all of these strategies for the foreseeable future. Both companies confirmed that, in the event of the merger proceeding as planned, all new and existing contract customers of Vodafone and 3 will be able to enjoy the same great value offered on all existing Vodafone and 3 mobile voice and data plans for the next 2 years.2. Vodafone is considering a buyout of T-MobileVodafone is considering a buyout of T-Mobile Currently, O2 has the largest share of the UK market, but Vodafones 25% combined with T-Mobiles 15% would give the company two out of every five UK mobile customers.3. Focusing for Diversification -Vodafone entering into electronic equipment MarketDiversification is the name disposed to the growth strategy where a business markets new products in new markets. Vodafone PLC can enter into electronic equipment market by using diversification strategy. Vodafone can produce Vodafone Television, Vodafone Microwaves, Vodafone Washing machine etc.Vodafone diversification productionTask 03 Strategy Evaluation and Selection3.1 Evaluations of OptionsThe evaluation of strategic options is an important part of the strategy process, whether largely incremental and implicit or an explicit stage within a formal planning system. The Evaluation of Business Strategy we can Use SAF module .In corporate strategy, Johnson, Scholars and Whittington present a model in which strategic options are evaluated against three key success criteria.Suitability (would it work?)Feasibility (can it b e made to work?)Acceptability (will they work it?)For evaluating purpose, I have selected only few strategic options.Strategic Option 01Focusing for Diversification -Vodafone entering into Electronic equipment MarketStrategic Option 02Merge between Vodafone and 3 Mobile3.2 Evaluations of selected OptionsSuitability Option 01 Option 02Does the strategy address the circumstancesIn which the organisation is operating? This is an inherently more risk strategy because the business is moving into markets in which it has little or no experience.Option 1 would fit to addresses the challenges of the external environment, is based upon or enhances the resources and capabilities of the organisa tion, builds or exploits synergies and is consistent with its corporate culture. This strategy complies with consideration of the anticipated rewards relation to the goals of the organisation. In addition, expectations of its key stakeholder groups. Anticipated rewards of option 1 will achieve possible returns relative to the risks incurred.Task 04 Strategy Implementation4.1 Comparison of Role and province of Strategy ImplementationImplementing Strategy gives a broad view of implementation and a thorough understanding of each piece of the implementation process. when implementing strategy will learn how to properly align corporate structure with corporate strategies and how to integrate strategy formulation and implementation by focusing on core areas.Strategy implementation skills are not easily mastered, unfortunately. In fact, virtually all managers find implementation the most difficult aspect of their jobs more difficult than strategic analysis or strategy formulation. When I mplementing Strategy Someone needs to sign up as responsible for the action plan. Someone must say, yes, Ill do it. Youve got to identify that one person who will be carrying the ball. This is an absolute necessity for monitoring the plan. we must know whom to ask how is it going? Impact of IT on Interpersonal Communication
Impact of IT on Interpersonal CommunicationAdvances in technology live with changed the nature of interpersonal chat.Communication is an key aspect of our eachday lives, it is constantly occurring weather its verbal or nonverbal communication. Communication is a symbolic process whereby reality is produced, maintained, repaired and transformed (James C bey 1989).Technology has had a capacious effect on the argona and Interpersonal communication, especially since impudently advances in technology take away been established. It has contributed in shaping the way that multitude carry with each other. It is a debatable topic on whether the advances in technology has changed interpersonal communication for the better or for the worse. It has made changes to the populace which alters us to do topics duration efficiently and effectively. The to a greater extent advanced technology has become it has allowed info to travel faster, this has a huge effect on todays generation, es pecially with the recent compulsion that large number have with social media.Social media allows battalion to connect with mickle they know, concourse they dont know and even others that they wont expect to interact with again. Before advances in technology were discovered, people were special to interacting face to face beca expend there was no other way to whereas now with the progression and the development of technology, it allows people to interact with people all over the world to a much larger audience.Social media has roughly affected the nature of interpersonal communication, this is due to the way it has changed the way that people interact, and has caused a loss for social skills. There are incapable of interacting face to face due to how dependent they are of social media. Social media has created a superstar of social relief for people who are socially awkward, this is because its easier way for them to communicate with people via social media platforms behind a n electronic device.Social media creates a fake world where you can perceive your egotism to the world however you like while hiding behind a screen. This isnt always a good thing, with social media you to put bring out an image of yourself that isnt real, its fake. Before the advances in technology, people had to learn to accept you for the way you are, you had no choice in deciding how to perceive yourself to the world other than to be yourself.Nowadays this generation are obsessed with their retrieves, people are on it so much that it makes them completely unaware of their surroundings. Conversation has become forced, where as earlier, people would naturally convers and the intercourse would flow. A lot of the time people retrieve of what to say because they have become so used to interacting using the same sanctioned questions on social media such as how are you?, how was your day, that when it comes to interacting with people face to face, they have to think about what to ask. These questions have been asked so much that its become a norm for people to ask how you are at the beginning of a conversation especially on social media. The question how are you has become to a greater extent of a conversation starter rather than a genuine question. This is a problem because it has made the generation of today lazy. There are people who use communication technology to talk to soul in the same room as them which displays lazy behaviour and is a prime example of how this generation have lost social skills. Before advances in technology, people genuinely cared about the questions that they asked because this was valued conversation and they were limited to what they could talk about. This generation, there is the internet, television, radio, game consoles, mobile phones and more that allows us to have access to different worlds and interacting with people that we dont know from all over the place. Social media and technology allows people to interact and find people who have similar interests, for example people who have Twitter created a trending aspect that allows you to find people who have similar interests and it is called Hashtag. Hashtagging has a huge effect on communication on social media nower days. The hashtags have gone from a random symbol to being a global symbol that can bring communities and people together from all over the world with the use of a relevant word, that people use to make trends or discussions known to the world. Hashtags can also be a form of online marketing which can be used by business to advertise their company as it is an effective way of getting a substance or idea or information across to the world. This is called mass communication.Advances in communication technology such as Email, Texting, Chat rooms, Social media sites, allows you to interact with people from all over the world on one platform, before technology a small bit of information would take a ache time to reach the place it needed to go by writing letters and through word of mouth, meanwhile a small bit of information could be delivered within a matter of minutes from one end of the world to the next via the internet. This can be beneficial in ways for example, companies that exercise people from far sway destinations can communicate and do wonders over skype rather than have them travel a long way for an hour interview if that. This then(prenominal) leads to the next point, people who live abroad or far from their family depend on technology and social media to communicate with them. Skype and facetime and other apps like this enable people who live far from their families and close ones to see them via live video call, even the telephone allows us to hear their voice. Before technology people were limited to letters that would take ages to be delivered, and isnt the same because theres only so much you can express through written context.Texting isnt as efficient and effective as face to face communication because technology communication is a lot different because you can only see haggling, and it is difficult to establish the semiotics of the conversation for example, when you are talking via text, its hard to see what the social codes are of the other person, how do they react and behave in different situations? If you were to say something over text, you are unable to see their reaction to what you said unlike in face to face. So, with communicating via text, the person could lie about their reaction which loses the value of its conversation because then it becomes fake. Not only this but we would not be able to see bodily codes such as, head nods, facial expressions, gestures, postures etc. This is all part of ritualised discourse. This is where the emojis are evolved. Emojis are used to represent reaction, mood or facial expression in text. The growth of emojis has extended so much that you have an emoji for almost e genuinely emotion in order for it to become easier and more f un to communicate, although even with this invention, technology communication will never beat face to face communication.Tidwell and Walther attested computer mediated conversation and face to face communication couples engaging in their first meetings and they had discovered that computer mediated conversation partners displayed more self -disclosures and greater intensity leading to quicker relational development. (Tidwell and Walther, 2002, pg147-148)Technology communication doesnt allow you to see the nonverbal communication aspect of interaction, which is considered an important if not of the most important parts of communication. Nonverbal communication in face to face communication allows us to focus on the body language and the facial expressions which reinforces the message whereas communication technology doesnt. Przybylski and Weinstein (2012) carried out and study and showed results that mobile phone communication in public interferes with human relationships. Two exper iments were carried out which showed that they have an effect on, closeness, conjunctive and conversation quality especially when conversing about personal meaningful topics.A beneficial aspect of advances in communication is the accessibility. It has created different online communication tools which have helped the world become a more connected place. Although for the older generation who didnt grow up with this grammatical case of technology, they dont find it as easy as others who were brought up or so it , to understand the whole online and technology process which creates a digital divide because they dont have the same level as expertise with this type of technology as the others do.Advances in technology have had a huge effect in the style of conversation that is used today in comparison to the style of communication that was used before this technology had been established. When using mobile phone device to communicate it has caused people to use shorter words as the nee d for longer words isnt needed when you have symbols and emojis to express what you are trying to say, however this creates shortcuts and has caused an ignorance to traditional grammatical rules which one would have said before. This has made conversation become very short and brief and contributes to the loss of conversation value. This has changed the whole nature of communication, this is due to the advances in communication. One click can online just find huge amounts of information, whereas before if you wanted to find out information, people would have to research by asking different people, reading books, searching through pages and pages which in the meantime would increase their knowledge whilst they are trying to find out one bit of information they are finding more stuff out on the way. Whereas now, anything we type into a search bar its there at an instant which has created the laziness.Campbell and Kwak (2011) carried out a study and had examined weather mobile phone co mmunication influences to an extent than when someone engages in face to face communication with new people in a public setting. The study found some evidence that mobile phone use in public facilitated talking with strangers, for those who rely a lot on mobile phones to exchange information about news.Social media isnt the only thing that has affected the nature of interpersonal communication, television has a huge impact as well. How many people in this generation would sit with their family in shut up for hours with the TV on. The television is another major aspect that has caused laziness. Many people nower days would consider sitting all together silently spending time together. In the days before advances in technology people would sit in a room and converse with their family, and this was how their family nights would be spent.Overall I think that Advances in communication has had a huge impact on interpersonal communication today and has changed the nature of it, it has als o proved that through the power of the evolution and expansion of new technology being discovered it will continue to affect the nature of interpersonal communication as we know it. Although it has had a huge effect it has also created a lot more means and topics of conversation with more things being discovered online and being able to converse and interact with people around the world, it has mad people because lazy in face to face but it has allowed people to meet people from over the world and discover new things that they couldnt have without advances in technology.BibliographyCommunication is a symbolic process whereby reality is produced, maintained, repaired and transformed Carey, J (1989). The Ghost Essay -- Narrative Memoir Essays
The Ghost I clutched my cell phone tightly ready to call 911. I was so terrified lying there in my wrinkle that I couldnt move. Previous nights while staying at my Grandmas house I had been fright, but nothing compared to the fear that ran through my veins on this unforgettable night.I remember how enkindle the idea of living with my grandma and being independent from my parents for a whole summer while our new house was being built sounded to me. My grandma lives in a house that is over a 100 years old I really dont conceive it is haunted or anything, but I project definitely heard sounds in the night, some louder and scarier than other nights. My dad used to tease me that it was my Grandpas ghost coming back for visits. My grandpa died in January of 2001. I dont believe in ghosts, but just my dads suggestion of Grandpas soul coming back made me feel uneasy. One particular night still haunts me and is one that I really wish I could forget. I went to bed that night up at my Grand mas house just like I did well-nigh every night, a little apprehensive about what I might hear. At about 100 a.m., I was awakened by a loud bang on my window. I model maybe it was just a dream, so I codad my eyes and started to fall back asleep. Just as I was almost back to sleep, I heard another loud bang followed by mysterious voices this time I knew it wasnt a dream. At first, I was so scared that all I could do was lay in my bed motionless. I tried to rationalize what the noises I heard could have been, but I couldnt telephone of any logical explanation, except that someone was outside. My first instinct was to grab my cell phone and call 911. I quickly grabbed my phone off my headboard and held it close to me, still too scared to move, b... ... always tell her it was branches from the trees hitting the sides of the house. Well, old houses do creak I guess, but the sounds I heard that night were definite loud bangs on my window, which couldnt have possibly been caused by tr ee branches, since there werent any tree branches that even touched the house anywhere near the live I slept in.I definitely got the independence that I wanted this past summer, but I wasnt quite as ready for it as I thought I was. Ill probably never have an explanation for what I heard that night, and honestly, I dont think that I really want one. I still dont like the idea of ghosts or souls of people who have died coming back to earth, but I do think that some things just cant be explained by my uncomplicated human logic. Ill never forget that night up at my grandmas when I was so scared that I couldnt move a muscle in my body.

Impact of Computers on Society :: Technology Society
Impact of Computers on SocietyEver since the dawn of civilization, knowledge has been power. If you knew how to count, you could understand more(prenominal) than others. This in time applies today. If you know more than another, you will have more power. Computers in the modern world are the main source of knowledge. From a simple calculator to the most powerful supercomputer, computers give man an edge everywhere his/her rivals.Technology is in all about being one step ahead of others. Being able to do advanced math before your opponents allows you to gain a strategic advantage in corporate competition or global politics. Supercomputers substructure compute missile trajectories while at the same time provoke be used to look for oil. The movie Hackers takes that into account when it refers to Gibson supercomputers being used to search for oil. You can analyze billions of pieces of data for a certain pattern and beget the results in a comparatively short amount of time. Even t hough not everyone has a super computer, the ability to analyze large amounts of data is still there. Groups like SETIHOME use thousands of computers at once to search for life elsewhere in the universe. This just shows how many applications a large amount of figuring power has.I have been around computers my entire life almost. During the early days of MS-DOS, I was using a program called Alpine Tram Ride. want all the other games I got latter on, this was educational. To tell you the truth I cant even remember the game and what it taught, yet I do remember the fact that I did use it a lot and that it was helpful. Other programs taught math or geography. This was the beginning of computers in education at home. Today you can get courses on CD or be schooled over the internet. Home schooling would have been more difficult before computers. Computers increased ones ability to teach him/herself. They have even created new fields of study such as Artificial Intelligence or the best f ield of allComputer Programming in Perl taught by Dmitriy Genzel. =) These classes then spread into fields like engineering where users can use programs like AutoCAD and design things (I dont know much about CAD programs so dont know how or what they design).Computers have entered right into the classroom. If you use a calculatorthat is a computer. Also programs like Excel (or other graphing programs) can allow you to graph certain functions that would be hard to do by hand.
